Case 2a and Case 2b: Spain
(Murcia and Malaga regions respectively)
Mediterranean Corridor has been selected as example for moderate seismic risk, floods and extreme temperatures that are governing high speed (region of Malaga – case 2a) and conventional (region of Murcia – case 2b) rail network management. FERROVIAL (FERROVIAL AGROMAN, S.A.), partner of the project, will be the user carrying out the Cases 2a and 2b. FERROVIAL maintains more than 4,000 km and 274 stations in Spanish rail networks. The Cases 2a (Murcia region) and 2b (Malaga region) both correspond to the Mediterranean corridor. They include High-Speed railway networks (154 km and 4 stations), conventional networks (1,600 km and 97 stations), 11 tunnels and 32 bridges. Only the high-speed section has around 10 million passengers a year.
